My favorite time of day is just after sunset, when the sky can turn some outrageous colors. Often the best colors are opposite the setting sun, as here: most of the sky is pink with the warm sunset color, but near the horizon the air is already in the shadow of the Earth and therefore blue. I find this juxtaposition of warm and cold colors delightful, but it takes a center of interest to make a photograph. This evening these clouds cooperated by forming up to resemble stately flying whales. |
