| I was enjoying a hike up Bluff Mountain just outside of the town of Island Pond in northeastern Vermont. The key word here is "enjoying," for nothing is more crucial for making good photographs than loving what you are doing. It helps, of course, to have great scenery and soft light, both of which nature provided me that day. I used my 200 mm lens to frame the gracefully bowing tree, the visual element that makes this photograph more than a snapshot. I don't use zooms, but only rarely do I lose a photograph due to poor framing; here, my fixed focal length lens was just right. |
