| I suppose the house and land of one's youth is magical for everybody. It sure is for me. I grew up within the city limits of Iowa City, but just barely, and with fields and woods on all sides of our property it was hard to tell you were even near a city at all. Somehow the encroaching urban development has so far spared my parents' house, so that when I return to visit I get to experience the countryside of my childhood all over again. This simple scene is from a Christmas visit. All I had to do was walk through the snow in my folks' backyard, turn and face east, and capture the dawn behind this tree that I used to climb. |
