| Mt. Clark is one of the most distinctive peaks in Yosemite. "Finlike," Jeffrey Schaffer calls it in his Yosemite trail guide. It's always easy to pick out at a distance. I was at Glacier Point overlooking Yosemite Valley one twilight, making the standard images of Half Dome and other icons of the Valley, but the lighting was interesting and I kept checking out Mt. Clark to see what it was doing. I like this image which abstracts the essential form of Mt. Clark against a simple backdrop of air still awash in the rosy glow of the setting sun. I also like the fact there there is some detail registering in the mountains; they are not pure silhouettes. |
