| Mt. Whitney, at 14,495', is the highest point in the lower 48 United States, so it gets a lot of press. But right next door is Lone Pine Peak, at just below 13,000' no slouch of a peak itself. And being closer to the town of Lone Pine, the access point to both mountains, it looms dramatically higher in appearance. For my money, it is the most photogenic peak in the area. So I made sure to turn my lens in its direction when a gentle dawn alpenglow struck it. I love how varying parts of the mountain received different colors and qualities of light in this photograph. |
