| I was hiking out to my car at the end of a backpacking trip, wondering if I could make it out in one very long day or whether I should stop along the way. When I came upon this scene, my decision was made for me. The light was perfect, there was very little wind to wave leaves around, and I found the scenery arresting. I spent the rest of the afternoon into twilight happily shooting within 50 yards of this spot. This is mid-October in Yosemite. The fall colors in the Sierra may not be as enormous in scale as in the Midwestern and Eastern hardwood forests, but it can be striking nevertheless. |
