| I was camping in the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest in California's White Mountains to be close to the Bristlecone Pine groves for dawn pictures. I rose in the dark and started the drive to the groves. I paused at the Sierra View Vista Point on the road, a wonderful turnout that I recommend to anyone. Despite the turnout's name, the better view at that moment was opposite the Sierra, looking east into the realm of the White Mountains. The wind was whipping fiercely and threatening to make all my pictures blurry from camera jiggle. I lowered my tripod, set up in the wind shadow of my car, and hoped for the best. Many of the resulting pictures were perfectly sharp, this one included. |
